He is an adopted great grand son of Quanah Parker, who was the last Commanche Chief.

Much of his material is about the "Old West" and historical events and characters that shaped the region where he grew up. His love for yesteryear comes through in his music and lyrics. His first album is "The Amarillo Kid," is packed full of gunfighter ballads in the Spirit of Marty Robbins. Other songs are about adventure, friendship, romance and hardships of the American West.  His follow-up album, "Amarillo" is full of stories about the Texas Panhandle. Coffman is excited about this release and would like to thank all of his friends who helped in the completion of this project.  Joe Ed's third album is entitled "Inspiration" filled with songs inspired by Dan Fogelberg. A fourth album is entitled "Quanah Parker" dedicated to Quanah and the Comanche People, soon to be released.
